Chestnut Hill Realty teamed with Erland and The Architectural Team to grow their existing residential property in Brookline, MA with the addition of 11 2-story, wood-frame affordable housing townhomes; 10 with four units each and one with eight units. The townhomes are made up of three bedrooms and two and one-half bathrooms with wood floors and high-end finishes throughout. The exterior consists of siding and brick to complement the existing homes in the Hancock Village community. Construction of the townhomes was sequenced—requiring individual turnover and phased occupancy. Erland worked closely with the Authorities Having Jurisdiction to ensure the safety of abutting homes and mitigate disruption to residents and neighbors. To maintain access to the community, a temporary road was also be installed. Situated in a park-like setting minutes from downtown Boston, Hancock Village is in an ideal location for modern living. Extensive sitework, including blasting, was required to prepare for foundations and utilities.
