Leggat McCall Properties selected Erland, in collaboration with Stantec, to perform the enabling work and infrastructure upgrades on 55 acres of their mixed-use development, including the demolition of several existing buildings. Located on the site of the former Kraft Atlantic Gelatin Facility, The Vale represents one of the largest redevelopment parcels to become available along I-93 inside Boston’s Route 128 corridor in the last ten years. Erland provided modifications to Hill Street, constructed a loop road to the southern portion of the site, installed utilities and connections, relocated a brook, and created a pad-ready site for multifamily and townhome residences, a senior living community, and a medical office building. Great care was taken to mitigate any disruption to neighboring homes and businesses and the Tri-Community Greenway bike path that runs parallel to the entrance of the site. Erland performed this work concurrently with other construction being completed onsite. The Vale will host today’s innovators in a life-and work-enhancing environment only minutes from Boston, offering Class A Office, Lab, GMP Manufacturing, Advanced Manufacturing, and Retail. The transformation of the former Kraft Atlantic Gelatin site will create a vibrant business campus and place for tenants and visitors to work, play, stay, and grow.
