EMD Serono Oncology & Tissue Culture Labs

EMD Serono partnered with Erland on an interior renovation within an existing, occupied building on their Billerica campus. Erland, alongside SMMA, relocated existing oncology and tissue culture labs to create a new pedestrian corridor from the Horizon Building to the Bourne Building. This was completed in three phases; Phase 1: selective demolition of existing interior partitions and MEP/FP; Phase 2: new construction lab space; and Phase 3: conversion of existing lab space into a new corridor. Modifications were made to the existing MEP/FP and RODI systems as well as fire alarm and tel-data to accommodate the new partition layout and life safety codes. An Assa Abloy touchless, telescopic glass door was installed between the Oncology Lab and the Tissue Culture Lab. The new lab furniture includes mobile, powered lab benches with gases, tables, shelving, and ceiling utility panels. New finishes include bio-based floors, acoustic ceilings, and linear baffle ceilings.
