Adams House Renovation at Phillips Academy

Phillips Academy has once again partnered with Erland to renovate the historic Adams House dormitory on its evolving Andover campus. Originally constructed in 1912 and designed by renowned architect Guy Lowell, Adams House is a prominent example of Georgian Revival architecture and a key component of the West Quadrangle—an ensemble of dormitories facing inward to form a central courtyard. This summer’s renovation will modernize the 14,700-square-foot residence while honoring its legacy. Scope includes bathroom upgrades, enhancements to the mechanical and fire alarm systems, and the replacement of 122 windows, four skylights, two sliding doors, and all flooring. Additional improvements include updated lighting, refreshed paint, and new finishes throughout to improve comfort for student residents. With faculty apartments occupied and campus life in full swing, our team is focused on safety, coordination, and minimizing disruption. This marks Erland’s sixth project with Phillips Academy.
