An Employee-Owned Company.
Our employees’ pride in their work has always been the foundation of what we do at Erland—building not just buildings but lasting relationships. They hold themselves to the highest standards of excellence, consistently putting the client first and making decisions rooted in value, purpose, and integrity.
In 2023, we became an employee-owned company to align with and further support this exceptional work ethic. Every Erland employee is now also an employee-owner, with a real stake in who we are and how we conduct ourselves. This shared ownership strengthens our commitment to delivering the best results for our clients while ensuring that our team benefits from our collective success for years to come.
Our History.
Building on Legacy.
Erland was founded in 1977 under the leadership of Kenneth Erland Froeberg, with a mission to deliver cost-effective solutions to the suburban marketplace. One of our first partnerships—with Nordblom Company—set the tone for the lasting relationships we strive to build. Together, we transformed Northwest Park into a thriving office and R&D hub, a collaboration that continues to this day. Over the decades, leadership passed to Bob McDonald, then Steve McDonald, and now to Sean McDonald, the third generation to guide Erland into its next chapter. In 2023, we became an employee-owned company, giving every team member a personal stake in our success and reinforcing our culture of collaboration, accountability, and pride in our work.
At Erland, we treat our clients, employees, and trade partners like family, building trust through collaboration and a shared commitment to success. Employee ownership has deepened our collective investment in delivering top-quality projects, supporting professional growth, and strengthening the communities we serve. This family-first approach is how we’ve earned our reputation as a trusted partner and leader in the industry—and it’s the foundation that will carry us forward for years to come.
We strive to make a meaningful impact in the communities where we work and live. Our employees drive this effort, bringing their personal passions and interests to life through community involvement. Guided by our Community Relations Task Force, we actively seek opportunities to give back—whether in Burlington, where we’re headquartered, or in the many communities we serve. Recent initiatives include hosting our annual Valentine’s Day Party with the Burlington Council on Aging, participating in the People Helping People Giving Tree holiday gift drive, and supporting our local food pantry. These efforts reflect our commitment to building strong connections and making a positive difference in the places we call home.
LEARN MORE.The Erland Charitable Foundation was born from a heartfelt desire to make a deeper impact in the communities we help build. Our inspiration came during our work on the New England Center for Children’s (NECC) John and Diane Kim Autism Institute project. After engaging with NECC’s students and witnessing the challenges faced by them and their families firsthand, our team felt compelled to do more. We realized that our commitment to giving back could extend beyond individual projects—that it could become a lasting effort. That realization led to the creation of the Erland Charitable Foundation, a testament to our passion for making a difference where it matters most.
