Alexandria Real Estate Equities teamed with Erland and R.E. Dinneen to create a new home for the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce. The 3-month, 1,000sf gut renovation and fit-out project took place in One Kendall Square -- a 100-year-old building that was also under construction. The existing space was previously used as a server room. It was completely gutted and updated with all new ductwork, A/V systems, tel-data, light fixtures, plumbing, and sprinklerheads utilizing a design-assist approach and design/build engineering support. The new space was fitted-out to accommodate an open concept layout with two offices and a conference room as well as a kitchenette. The existing glass in the atrium area was updated with fire-rated storefronts. Erland’s jobsite abutted several other construction areas since the entire building was being renovated. Access to the loading dock was limited due to these other ongoing projects. A shared freight elevator was being used for deliveries. Erland took great care in maintaining the jobsite and minimizing disruption to the neighboring construction.
