EMD Serono Bourne Bridge

After successfully completing the Horizon Building for EMD Serono, Erland was invited back to construct a pedestrian bridge that connects the new facility to the Bourne Building. In order to build this connection, glass was removed from the Horizon Building and temporary metal panels were installed where the bridge would connect. Masonry and a window were removed from the Bourne Building and two temporary walls were built in the Oncology Lab where the exterior wall was removed to keep any water out while the connection was being made. Dubbed the Bourne Bridge, the 135lf long bridge was constructed in just six months. It links two of EMD Serono’s lab corridors allowing for deliveries received in the Horizon Building loading dock to be easily distributed throughout all other lab space on campus without having to cross into any lab or other common space.
