Erland Foundation’s Third Annual Golf Tournament Benefits the James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn

Woburn, Mass. - On Thursday, June 27, the Erland Foundation stepped onto the golf course in support of their mission to make a positive difference in the community by raising funds and awareness for local organizations. More than 130 Erland Construction employees, subcontractors, volunteers and local community members enjoyed a day at the Butter Brook Golf Club in Westford. Proceeds from the Third Annual Golf Tournament benefited a local family battling a cancer diagnosis as well as the James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn.

The James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn is home to 1,400 registered members each year. They strive to create strong, healthy relationships by providing exceptional extracurriculars and programs that inspire greatness and a positive, safe and fun environment for young members of Woburn  and surrounding communities. Additionally, the James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club offers unlimited opportunities, assures that all young people can afford to belong, is building-centered, welcomes boys and girls of all races, religions and ethnic cultures and is guidance-oriented.

“Working with the Erland Foundation is an awesome opportunity for our organization and for our kids. We are so fortunate to partner with local organizations and businesses who like us, are invested in the future of our communities,” said Julie Gage, Executive Director of the James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn. “Support from the Erland Foundation allows us to ensure that all kids, especially those who need us most, have access to our programs and activities. The Erland Foundation golf tournament allows us to provide scholarship assistance to families in need. About 30 percent of our members come from single parent homes and about 35 percent of our campers come from low income households.”

With the support of sponsors and generous donations from local businesses, the Foundation is hoping to increase the amount of assistance they can offer to the James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn this year.

“We have a strong connection with the charity the Golf Tournament is supporting this year. A number of our employees have been involved with the James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn whether as members, volunteers, or sending their own children there,” said Chris Landry, Treasurer of the Erland Foundation. “The organization has and continues to provide programs for the youth in the local community, inspiring children to find their greatness – which resonates deeply with the Foundation’s mission.”
