Taking Safety to New Heights with Prevention through Design (PtD)

Prevention through Design (PtD) is used to prevent or reduce occupational injuries, illnesses, and fatalities through the inclusion of prevention considerations in all designs that impact all workers—including the subcontractors who build it, the end-users who work in it, and the operations team who maintains it. “Designing out” occupational hazards and risks is one of the most effective ways we can protect each of these people. Erland’s goal with this effort on the New Heights project was to create a new standard for safe working conditions that can be applied on our jobsites going forward.
